Turkish law enforcement agencies have detained 209 individuals during a large-scale anti-terror operation.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office released the information. According to the statement, arrest warrants were issued for 241 people suspected of ties to various terrorist organizations. Law enforcement continues search operations to identify and detain the remaining suspects.
These operations coincide with heightened security measures in Turkey ahead of the NATO summit scheduled for July. The Ankara Governor's Office has imposed temporary restrictions on demonstrations, press conferences, and other public gatherings from June 28 to July 10, citing security concerns. Security measures in the capital and other strategic areas have been elevated to the maximum level for the summit, which will take place on July 7-8. While the prosecutor's office emphasized that the operations aim to expose the activities of terrorist groups, no direct link between the detentions and the NATO summit was officially stated. Specific charges against the detainees have not yet been disclosed, though some human rights organizations have expressed concerns regarding legal defense access during the initial hours of detention.
