Türkiye national team defeats Venezuela in friendly match

As part of their preparations for the 2026 World Cup, the Türkiye national football team secured a 2-1 victory over Venezuela in a friendly match.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the match, held at the Inter Miami Stadium in Florida, USA, saw Venezuela take an early lead.

Venezuela opened the scoring in the 13th minute through Eduardo Mendoza, putting his team ahead.

The Turkish side managed to equalize late in the first half. In the 44th minute, following a corner kick delivered by Arda Guler, a scramble in the penalty area resulted in the ball finding the back of the net, leveling the score.

Türkiye returned from the break with increased intensity and secured the winning goal in the 54th minute. Following a precise assist from Arda Guler, Yunus Akgun struck from long range to put his team in the lead.

Despite several scoring opportunities for both sides in the remainder of the match, the scoreline remained unchanged, and Türkiye left the pitch with a 2-1 victory.

It is worth noting that the Türkiye national team previously defeated North Macedonia 4-0 in a friendly match held in Istanbul. These matches serve as critical preparation for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, marking the first time the tournament will be hosted by three nations.
