US President Donald Trump has reaffirmed his administration's intention to focus more rigorously on the situation in Cuba following the conclusion of current military operations concerning Iran.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this development was reported by various international media outlets. Audio recordings of President Trump's remarks, made during a conversation with journalists at the White House, were released by "PBS NewsHour".

The US leader characterized Cuba as a "country on the verge of collapse" and stated that Washington is actively working toward a change in the island's governance system. He emphasized that this initiative would be pursued more aggressively once the current priorities regarding Iran are resolved. "We have very good plans for Cuba. I think we need to get rid of a very tough and unpleasant regime," Trump stated, adding that he prefers a phased approach to foreign policy challenges.

President Trump also highlighted the geopolitical connection between Havana and Caracas, asserting that Venezuela serves as a critical lifeline for the Cuban economy. "If it weren't for Venezuela, Cuba would already be bankrupt," he claimed. While the President maintained that the goal of US policy is not to induce collapse through sanctions, he defended the implementation of new restrictive measures.

The US-Cuba relationship has long been defined by the decades-old trade embargo and periodic shifts in diplomatic engagement. The current administration's strategy appears to be intensifying economic pressure, with reports indicating that on June 3, President Trump signed an executive order expanding sanctions against Cuba. This new directive potentially impacts foreign companies collaborating with major economic entities affiliated with the Cuban state, marking a significant escalation in Washington's approach to the Caribbean nation.
