US President Donald Trump and President Ilham Aliyev met in Davos on January 22 to discuss the current state of US-Azerbaijan relations and key issues regarding regional peace.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that this information was released in a statement by the US Embassy in Azerbaijan. During the meeting, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the agreements reached during the summit held on August 8, emphasizing the vital importance of strengthening bilateral ties and expanding strategic cooperation between the two nations.
The statement further noted that the leaders positively assessed the progress made toward ensuring peace and stability in the South Caucasus. Additionally, the significance of developing regional connectivity, cooperation, and trade within the framework of the TRIPP initiative was specifically highlighted as a priority for both Washington and Baku.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. The annual forum serves as a global platform for heads of state, business leaders, and international organizations to address pressing geopolitical and economic challenges. Azerbaijan has traditionally maintained a high-level presence at the forum to promote its regional energy and transport projects, while the participation of US President Donald Trump underscores the strategic importance of the Caspian region in global energy security and trade logistics.
