The remains of six American service members killed during the ongoing conflict in the Middle East are scheduled to be returned to the United States on March 7.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing TASS and NBC News, that a special military aircraft carrying the fallen soldiers will land at the Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.
According to the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), the six service members lost their lives as a result of initial retaliatory strikes by Iran during military operations in the region. Currently, approximately 50,000 American troops are involved in the broader operations directed against Iranian-backed threats in the Middle East.
The return of the fallen soldiers comes amid heightened tensions in the region. US President Donald Trump has previously emphasized the administration's commitment to protecting American personnel stationed abroad. Dover Air Force Base serves as the primary entry point for fallen service members returning to the United States, where "dignified transfer" ceremonies are traditionally held to honor their sacrifice. This event underscores the significant human cost of the ongoing geopolitical shifts and military engagements in the Middle East.
