The Iranian capital of Tehran has been subjected to heavy bombardment, resulting in significant casualties and infrastructure damage.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing Iranian media, that strikes were carried out across the eastern, southern, and western parts of the city during the night. The Sharif University of Technology was specifically targeted during the attack, causing extensive damage to the university campus and surrounding buildings. This marks the fourth major university in Iran to be targeted in recent weeks.
The strikes extended beyond the capital, with explosions recorded in Karaj, Shiraz, Isfahan, and Bushehr. According to official reports, the casualties include six people in Bandar Lengeh and five in Qum. In the Baharestan district, located south of Tehran, at least 13 people were killed, including six children.
The targeting of Sharif University of Technology, one of Iran's most prestigious higher education institutions, underscores the escalating intensity of the conflict. Known as the "MIT of Iran," the university is a central hub for scientific research and engineering. These incidents follow a pattern of increasing strikes on urban centers and educational facilities, raising international concerns regarding the humanitarian impact and the safety of civilian infrastructure in the region.
