Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa has appointed Mazloum Abdi, the leader of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), as his advisor.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the state-run SANA agency, President al-Sharaa signed a decree formalizing the appointment.
The document confirms that Mustafa Khalil Abdi, widely known as Mazloum Abdi, will serve as an advisor to the Syrian President. This appointment is viewed as the culmination of several months of negotiations between the central government in Damascus and Kurdish representatives.
On August 25, Mazloum Abdi announced the dissolution of the armed groups under his command and confirmed that Kurdish military and administrative structures have been fully integrated into Syria's state institutions. This development marks a significant milestone in efforts to reduce internal tensions in Syria and restore the central government's authority across the country's territory.
