12 kilograms of drugs seized in Baku's Surakhani district

Police officers have seized more than 12 kilograms of narcotics during a special operation conducted in the Surakhani district of Baku. The operation led to the detention of a suspect involved in large-scale drug trafficking within the capital.

According to information provided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) to the Operative Information Center-OMM, 43-year-old Khayal Zargarov, a previously convicted individual, was detained during the measures. A total of 12 kilograms and 305 grams of marijuana were discovered and seized from him. Preliminary investigations established that the suspect acquired the narcotics for the purpose of distribution and sale. A criminal case has been initiated, and a court order has been issued for Zargarov's arrest pending further investigation.

Azerbaijan continues to intensify its crackdown on illegal drug trafficking as part of a broader national strategy to ensure public safety. The Ministry of Internal Affairs regularly conducts targeted operations in Baku and other regions to dismantle supply chains and prevent the distribution of controlled substances. These efforts are aligned with the Republic of Azerbaijan's commitment to combating transnational organized crime and protecting the health and well-being of its citizens.
