A loan agreement for the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant in Sumgait was signed today during a meeting between President Ilham Aliyev and a delegation of leaders from institutions within the Arab Coordination Group.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the document was signed in the presence of the head of state, marking a significant step in the modernization of the city's utility infrastructure.

Furthermore, a Memorandum of Understanding was exchanged between the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan, and members of the Arab Coordination Group. This memorandum focuses on expanding cooperation for the construction of water supply and sewage systems across 33 residential settlements on the Absheron Peninsula.

The Arab Coordination Group, which includes institutions such as the Saudi Fund for Development, the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, and the OPEC Fund for International Development, has been a long-standing partner in Azerbaijan's infrastructure development. These projects are part of the government's broader strategy to improve public utility services, ensure environmental sustainability, and support the rapid urban growth of the Sumgait industrial hub and the surrounding Absheron region.
