The unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that was intercepted and neutralized in Latvian airspace on August 14 has been confirmed to belong to Ukraine.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Latvian Ministry of Defense released an official statement clarifying the incident. "It has been determined that the drone intercepted by a NATO fighter jet belonged to Ukraine," the ministry stated.

Authorities reported that on August 14, an air raid alert was declared across four municipalities in eastern Latvia, lasting approximately 30 minutes. Following the alert, Latvian officials confirmed that a drone had been intercepted and destroyed by a NATO aircraft operating in the region.

Latvia, a NATO member state, maintains strict surveillance of its airspace, particularly given the ongoing security challenges in the Baltic region. The incident highlights the heightened state of readiness among NATO allies in Eastern Europe, where air defense protocols are frequently activated to monitor and respond to unauthorized aerial activity near the alliance's borders.
