Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed China's readiness to cooperate with the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to enhance global ecological governance.

According to Operative Information Center-OMM, citing Chinese media reports, the Chinese leader sent a congratulatory letter to the participants of the SCO "Green and Sustainable Development Forum." In his message, President Xi emphasized that China is committed to promoting the "Shanghai Spirit" to improve the global environmental management system and contribute to building a cleaner and more sustainable world.

The President further highlighted China's dedication to green development within its national ecological policy, noting the country's active role in the formation of a global ecological civilization. He stressed that fostering international cooperation within the SCO framework is essential for achieving long-term environmental goals and addressing the challenges of climate change collectively.

The SCO, established in 2001, is a major intergovernmental organization whose members include China, Russia, India, Pakistan, Iran, and several Central Asian nations. Azerbaijan currently holds the status of a dialogue partner within the organization and has expressed interest in deepening cooperation across various sectors, including the "green" agenda. The forum serves as a critical platform for member and partner states to align their environmental strategies with global sustainable development goals, particularly as the region focuses on transitioning to renewable energy sources.
