The State Security Service (SSS) has been tasked with conducting operational-search activities to ensure the security of protected individuals and strategic facilities in Azerbaijan.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree amending the Presidential Decree No. 507, dated June 19, 2001, regarding the "division of authority among operational-search subjects in the implementation of operational-search measures."

Under the new provisions, the SSS will assume responsibility for operational-search activities related to the security of individuals and strategic sites currently protected by the State Agency for the Protection of Strategic Objects of the Republic of Azerbaijan. This adjustment aims to streamline security protocols and enhance the operational efficiency of state agencies responsible for national safety.

The State Security Service plays a critical role in Azerbaijan's national security architecture, tasked with intelligence, counter-intelligence, and the protection of state interests. By centralizing specific operational-search functions under the SSS, the government seeks to strengthen the oversight and protection of vital infrastructure and high-profile figures against potential threats.
