Turkmenistan remains committed to developing its cooperation with brotherly Azerbaijan, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stated during a meeting with the visiting Azerbaijani Minister of Culture, Adil Karimli.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the events scheduled within the framework of the Days of Azerbaijani Culture in Turkmenistan would make a significant contribution to the development of cultural ties between the two nations.
Minister Adil Karimli emphasized that Azerbaijan attaches special importance to the development of relations with Turkmenistan. He noted his satisfaction with the visit and stressed the vital role that reciprocal cultural days play in strengthening bilateral ties.
During the meeting, the parties highlighted the dynamic development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan across political, diplomatic, trade, economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres. It was noted that regular high-level meetings and mutual visits in recent years have elevated the partnership to a qualitatively new stage.
The discussion underscored the significant place of cultural-humanitarian cooperation on the bilateral agenda, noting the importance of joint events that facilitate the exchange of experience across various fields of culture. President Berdimuhamedov recalled the successful hosting of the Days of Turkmen Culture in Azerbaijan last October, stating that such cultural exchanges serve to bring the two peoples closer and strengthen their bonds of friendship.
He further expressed his conviction that the shared historical and cultural heritage provides a solid foundation for deepening interstate dialogue, reaffirming Turkmenistan's unwavering commitment to expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan.
Background: Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan share deep historical, linguistic, and cultural roots as Turkic-speaking nations. In recent years, the two countries have significantly bolstered their strategic partnership, particularly in the energy and transport sectors. The development of the Dostlug field in the Caspian Sea and the expansion of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor) remain central pillars of their bilateral agenda, reflecting a shared vision for regional connectivity and economic integration.
