The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued a warning regarding the United States' plan to escort oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz. According to Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the Fars news agency, IRGC spokesperson Ali Mohammad Naini delivered the statement in response to recent military movements in the region.

The warning follows an announcement from the US Department of Energy indicating that the navy is preparing to escort vessels through the strait “as soon as possible.” In a direct response to Washington's intentions, Naini emphasized the IRGC's readiness, stating, “We are waiting for them to arrive.”

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most vital maritime chokepoints, through which approximately one-fifth of the world's oil consumption passes. Due to ongoing regional conflicts and heightened security risks, commercial shipping traffic in the waterway has faced significant disruptions. The presence of US President Donald Trump's administration in regional security dynamics continues to influence the strategic posturing of both Washington and Tehran in these international waters.
