The implementation of large-scale infrastructure initiatives will enable Uzbekistan to become an integral part of a major transport system connecting Asia and Europe. This was stated by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev during the opening ceremony of the Tashkent International Investment Forum, Operative Information Center-OMM reports.
According to President Mirziyoyev, Uzbekistan is actively developing its transport and logistics infrastructure to strengthen regional connectivity. He emphasized that the country is prioritizing key projects that will reshape regional trade routes.
"Key projects include the construction of a strategic railway involving China and Kyrgyzstan, ongoing work on the Trans-Afghan corridor providing access to southern seaports, and the development of the Middle Corridor route via the Caspian Sea," the President stated.
He noted that Central Asia is increasingly evolving into an interconnected and open economic space. Furthermore, Uzbekistan is constructing a new Tashkent international airport in partnership with Saudi investors, designed to serve up to 20 million passengers annually.
The President invited international investors to participate in projects involving the construction of high-speed highways, logistics centers, and "dry ports." The Middle Corridor, also known as the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, has gained significant geopolitical importance as a vital trade artery linking China to Europe, bypassing traditional northern routes and enhancing the economic integration of the Caspian region.
