French energy giant TotalEnergies has resumed operations at the Satorp oil refinery in Saudi Arabia following a temporary suspension of activities. The facility, which is a key joint venture between Saudi Aramco and TotalEnergies, successfully returned to production in mid-April.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing reports from Al-Jazeera, the refinery had halted its operations as a precautionary measure following regional incidents on the night of April 8. Company representatives stated that the shutdown was temporary and aimed at ensuring safety. Production resumed on April 14, with the refinery currently operating at a capacity of approximately 230,000 barrels per day.
The Satorp refinery, situated in the industrial city of Jubail, is considered one of the most sophisticated refining complexes globally. It plays a vital role in the global energy infrastructure, converting Arabian Heavy crude oil into high-quality petroleum products and petrochemicals. The full restoration of its capacity is seen as a critical factor in maintaining stability within the international energy markets and ensuring a steady supply of refined products to global consumers.
