When the state faced the existential threat of destruction and fragmentation, the National Leader saved Azerbaijan. This was stated by the Speaker of the Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova, during a session of the parliament's extraordinary session, as reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM.
"Heydar Aliyev's return to state leadership was a call from the people. With this, Azerbaijan embarked on a path of sustainable development, and our country transformed into an international center," she added.
The Speaker emphasized that the statehood policy established by National Leader Heydar Aliyev is being successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev. "The end of the 30-year occupation of our lands, the restoration of our sovereignty, and our growing political influence on the global stage are clear indicators of this success," Gafarova noted.
Heydar Aliyev, who served as the third President of Azerbaijan from 1993 to 2003, is widely credited with stabilizing the country during a period of severe political and economic crisis following the collapse of the Soviet Union. His strategic vision laid the foundation for the modern Republic of Azerbaijan, prioritizing energy independence and the strengthening of national sovereignty, principles that remain central to the country's current political trajectory.
