Russia may join the newly proposed "Peace Council" established by US President Donald Trump to facilitate the normalization of relations between Moscow and Washington.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, political scientist Konstantin Blokhin shared these insights during an interview with gazeta.ru. The expert noted that Russia's potential participation in this international body would likely be driven solely by the objective of stabilizing and improving Russia-American diplomatic ties.

Blokhin characterized the "Peace Council" as an attempt by US President Donald Trump to manage and maintain control over the formation of a multipolar world. The analyst emphasized that the global landscape is currently divided between two major blocs: the Western-aligned G7 and NATO, and the Global South organizations such as BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). He suggested that the US administration is seeking to create a new international platform under its oversight to address this global fragmentation.

The initiative reflects a broader shift in American foreign policy under the leadership of US President Donald Trump, who assumed office in January 2025. While the proposed council aims to eventually serve as a successor to the United Nations, some analysts argue that reforming the existing UN framework remains a more pragmatic approach than establishing an entirely new global governing body. This development comes at a time of significant geopolitical realignment, as major powers navigate evolving security architectures and economic alliances in a rapidly changing international order.
