Azerbaijan reserves the right to take appropriate retaliatory measures in response to recent provocations, according to the country's diplomatic leadership.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that this was stated in a formal declaration by the MFA regarding drone attacks launched from the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran toward the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that such actions undermine regional security and violate the principles of international law. Official Baku is currently monitoring the situation closely, asserting that any threat to Azerbaijan's sovereign territory will be met with a necessary and proportionate response to ensure the safety of its citizens and the integrity of its borders.
The Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic is an exclave of Azerbaijan, bordering Iran, Armenia, and Türkiye. Given its strategic location, the security of Nakhchivan remains a top priority for the Azerbaijani government. In recent years, Azerbaijan has significantly modernized its defense capabilities in the region to counter potential aerial threats and maintain stability along its international borders.
