A series of joint projects between Kazakhstan and Iran have been suspended following the escalation of tensions in the Middle East.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Kazakhstan's Deputy Foreign Minister Arman Isetov informed journalists that the complex regional situation following strikes by the US and Israel on Iran has directly impacted bilateral cooperation.
"Currently, many projects between us and Iran have been halted due to the country being in a state of military conflict. Consequently, both our business structures and entrepreneurs are in a 'wait-and-see' position," Isetov stated. He specifically noted that projects involving grain supplies and the exchange of food products, which were central to the economic partnership, are among those likely suspended.
The Deputy Minister added that while Kazakhstan has not yet faced major economic losses, the weakening of cooperation is being felt given the strategic nature of the partnership with Iran. This development comes as regional instability continues to disrupt traditional trade routes and investment climates across Central Asia and the Middle East. Kazakhstan, a major global grain exporter, often utilizes Iranian infrastructure for transit to Persian Gulf markets, making the security of these corridors vital for regional food security and economic stability.
