Registration for aptitude exams for the 2026/2027 academic year has commenced in Azerbaijan for higher education institutions (Group V) and vocational education institutions based on full (11-year) secondary education. The registration period for applicants and sub-bachelors interested in sports, fine arts, music, theater, cinema, and choreography will run from May 21 to June 1.

The State Examination Center (SEC) told the Operative Information Center-OMM that candidates can register through the official portal. Applicants are permitted to register for a maximum of four commissions within only one direction of special aptitude majors. The SEC noted that "Aptitude Exam Admission Tickets," which specify the date, time, and venue of the exams, will be made available on its website. The exams themselves are scheduled to take place between June and August.

Candidates who took their entrance or school-leaving exams in a language other than Azerbaijani may still register even if they failed the initial Azerbaijani language (state language) exam. However, these applicants must pass the second attempt scheduled for June 21 to be eligible for the competition. Sub-bachelors must confirm their applications by June 1, while those graduating this year must ensure their educational data is uploaded to the system by their respective institutions by May 31.

The aptitude exam system in Azerbaijan is a specialized selection process designed to identify students with exceptional skills in creative and physical fields. This process ensures that admissions to prestigious institutions, such as the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts or the Baku Academy of Music, are based on practical talent alongside academic performance. The State Examination Center regularly updates its guidelines to streamline the transition for both domestic students and sub-bachelors seeking higher education opportunities in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
