Heavy traffic congestion has been observed on 17 major roads and avenues in the capital, causing significant delays for commuters in Baku.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that according to the Intelligent Transport Management Center (NIIM), traffic flow has been particularly restricted on the Baku-Sumgait highway, Ziya Bunyadov Avenue, and Tbilisi Avenue.
The current traffic situation is reported at the following locations:
- 1. Baku-Sumgait highway, in the direction of the "20 Yanvar" metro station;
- 2. Ali Mustafayev Street, in the direction of Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
- 3. Abdulvahab Salamzade Street, in the direction of Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
- 4. 1st Gol Kenari road, in the direction of Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
- 5. Binagadi highway, in the direction of the "Azadliq Prospekti" metro station;
- 6. Tbilisi Avenue, from the "20 Yanvar" metro station towards the city center;
- 7. Uzeyir Hajibeyli Street, up to the intersection with Azadliq Avenue;
- 8. Yusif Safarov Street, in the direction of the center;
- 9. Ziya Bunyadov Avenue, from the intersection with Muzaffar Narimanov Street towards the "20 Yanvar" metro station;
- 10. Mikayil Mushfiq Street, from the "Badamdar" circle towards school-lyceum No. 20;
- 11. 8 November Avenue, from the intersection with Suleyman Ahmadov Street towards the center;
- 12. Babek Avenue, in the direction of the center;
- 13. 28 May Street, from the intersection with Pushkin Street to the intersection with Rashid Behbudov Street;
- 14. Koroglu Rahimov Street, from the intersection with Academician Hasan Aliyev Street towards Heydar Aliyev Avenue;
- 15. Khatai Avenue, in the direction of Heydar Aliyev Avenue;
- 16. Heydar Aliyev Avenue, main road, in the direction of the center;
- 17. Heydar Aliyev Avenue, secondary road, in the direction of the center.
Traffic congestion in Baku often intensifies during peak hours as a result of the high volume of vehicles entering the capital from the Absheron Peninsula and surrounding residential areas. The Intelligent Transport Management Center (NIIM) utilizes a network of cameras and sensors to monitor traffic flow in real-time, providing updates to help manage the city's transport infrastructure and reduce transit times for residents and visitors in Azerbaijan.
