Heavy traffic congestion has been reported on several major roads and avenues in Baku, affecting the flow of vehicles across the capital.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Digital Development and Transport Agency's Intelligent Transport Management Center (NIIM) has released data regarding the current traffic situation.
According to the NIIM, traffic density is currently observed in the following areas:
- Baku-Sumgait highway, in the direction of the "20 January" metro station;
- Tbilisi Avenue, from the intersection with Izmir Street toward the "20 January" metro station;
- Tbilisi Avenue, from the "20 January" metro station toward the city center;
- Ali Mustafayev Street, in the direction of Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
- 1st Gol Kenari road, in the direction of Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
- Yusif Safarov Street, toward the city center;
- Heydar Aliyev Avenue, auxiliary road, toward the city center;
- Heydar Aliyev Avenue, main road, toward the city center;
- Ziya Bunyadov Avenue, from the intersection with Muzaffar Narimanov Street toward the "20 January" metro station;
- Uzeyir Hajibeyli Street, up to the intersection with Azadlig Avenue;
- Zarifa Aliyeva Street;
- 8 November Avenue, from the intersection with Suleyman Ahmadov Street toward the city center;
- Binagadi highway, in the direction of the "Azadlig Prospekti" metro station;
- 28 May Street, from the intersection with Pushkin Street to the intersection with Rashid Behbudov Street.
The Intelligent Transport Management Center (NIIM) was established to monitor and manage traffic flow in Azerbaijan's capital using advanced technological solutions. By providing real-time updates, the center aims to reduce travel time and improve road safety. Traffic congestion in Baku often peaks during morning and evening rush hours due to the high volume of vehicles entering the city center from surrounding residential areas and the neighboring city of Sumgait.
