Heavy traffic congestion reported on main Baku roads

Significant traffic congestion and density are currently being observed on the main roads and avenues of Baku.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that official data regarding the situation was released by the Intelligent Transport Management Center (NIIM).

The list of roads in the capital where movement has become difficult includes:

  • Baku-Sumgait highway, in the direction of the "20 January" metro station;
  • Mikayil Mushfiq Street, from the "Badamdar" circle towards School-Lyceum No. 20;
  • Uzeyir Hajibeyli Street, up to the intersection with Azadlıq Avenue;
  • Ali Mustafayev Street, in the direction of Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
  • Tbilisi Avenue, from the "20 January" metro station towards the city center;
  • Heydar Aliyev Avenue, main road, towards the center;
  • Heydar Aliyev Avenue, auxiliary road, towards the center;
  • Binagadi highway, in the direction of the "Azadlıq Prospekti" metro station;
  • 1st Gol Kenari road, in the direction of Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
  • Ziya Bunyadov Avenue, from the intersection with Muzaffar Narimanov Street towards the "20 January" metro station;
  • Yusif Safarov Street, towards the center;
  • Koroghlu Rahimov Street, from the intersection with Ak. Hasan Aliyev Street towards Heydar Aliyev Avenue;
  • Khatai Avenue, in the direction of Heydar Aliyev Avenue;
  • 28 May Street, from the intersection with Pushkin Street to the intersection with Rashid Behbudov Street;
  • Rashid Behbudov Street, in the direction of the Central Bank;
  • Airport highway, density is observed in the direction of the "Koroghlu" metro station.

Traffic management in Azerbaijan's capital is overseen by the Intelligent Transport Management Center, which utilizes a network of cameras and sensors to monitor flow and optimize signal timings. Such congestion is typical during peak hours in Baku as the city continues to expand its infrastructure to accommodate increasing vehicle volume. Drivers are advised to use alternative routes where possible to avoid delays in the central business districts and major entry points of the city.
