Azerbaijan has established cold storage facilities with a total capacity of 400,000 tons in recent years, but the target capacity must reach 500,000 tons, requiring the construction of an additional 100,000 tons of storage infrastructure.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev made these remarks during a meeting dedicated to agricultural issues. The head of state pointed out that the vast majority of the existing cold storage facilities were created through preferential, low-interest state loans.
"However, our cold storage capacity must reach 500,000 tons. Therefore, an additional 100,000 tons of cold storage infrastructure must be established," President Ilham Aliyev said.
In recent years, Azerbaijan has prioritized the modernization of its agricultural sector to strengthen food security and boost non-oil exports. The development of modern logistics and storage infrastructure plays a crucial role in reducing post-harvest losses, maintaining stable food prices, and expanding the export potential of local agricultural products to regional markets.
