President Ilham Aliyev viewed a fleet of newly manufactured domestic waste collection vehicles at the Baku Expo Center on Tuesday.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that these specialized vehicles, produced at the Ganja Automobile Plant following an order from the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, are set to be dispatched to various cities and districts across Azerbaijan.
Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Rashad Ismayilov and Khanlar Fatiyev, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the "Ganja Automobile Plant" Production Union, briefed the head of state on the project details. It was reported that a total of 70 communal vehicles, each with a capacity of 22 cubic meters, have been manufactured under the initiative. These vehicles will be distributed from two main assembly points—the Baku Expo Center and the Ganja Automobile Plant—to 58 cities and regions throughout Azerbaijan.
The project aims to enhance the quality of communal services and improve the sanitary-hygienic situation in the regions. These modern vehicles will ensure the timely and efficient transportation of household waste, contributing to environmental protection and the overall ecological state of the country. The initiative also highlights the strength of local production; the Ganja Automobile Plant has a long history of manufacturing tractors, combines, agricultural machinery, and various commercial vehicles.
The Ganja Automobile Plant holds significant importance in Azerbaijan's industrial landscape. Its foundation was laid in 1986 through the initiative of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, and the facility commenced its modern operations in 2004 following the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev. Currently, the plant provides employment for approximately 500 people, playing a vital role in the socio-economic development of Ganja and the surrounding regions.
