By investing in railway and road infrastructure, we are opening new corridors for transport, President Ilham Aliyev said.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the head of state made these remarks during his speech at the official opening ceremony of the 31st Baku Energy Forum.
Recalling the successful operation of the East-West corridor, the President noted: "The Zangezur corridor, which will be another branch of the East-West corridor, will certainly be built in accordance with the document signed on August 8 (2025) at the White House between the US President, the Prime Minister of Armenia, and myself."
The Zangezur corridor is a strategic transport project designed to connect the main part of Azerbaijan with its Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, as well as to enhance regional connectivity between East and West. The project is widely viewed as a critical component of the Middle Corridor, which aims to facilitate trade and transit between Asia and Europe, bypassing traditional northern routes and significantly reducing travel times for international freight.
