Citizens in Azerbaijan will now be able to receive oncological assistance in private hospitals following new legislative updates. President Ilham Aliyev has signed amendments to the laws "On Protection of Public Health" and "On Oncological Assistance," according to the Operative Information Center-OMM.
Under the new regulations, private medical institutions holding a specific license for oncological care, in accordance with the Law "On Licenses and Permits," are authorized to provide these specialized services. This reform ensures that Azerbaijani citizens, foreigners, and stateless persons residing in Azerbaijan have the right to independently choose their treating physicians and medical facilities based on their own discretion and will.
This legislative shift marks a significant step in the modernization of Azerbaijan's healthcare system. By integrating licensed private institutions into the oncological care framework, the government aims to increase accessibility, reduce the burden on state facilities, and foster a competitive environment that improves the overall quality of medical services. These measures align with Azerbaijan's broader social policy goals of enhancing patient rights and ensuring comprehensive healthcare coverage across the country.
