President Ilham Aliyev accepts credentials of new Cambodian ambassador

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Cambodia to Azerbaijan, Sok Chean, on July 17.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the ambassador presented his credentials to the head of state.

During the meeting, President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to bilateral relations and mutual support with Cambodia, as well as contacts at the level of governments and ruling parties. The head of state noted the importance of elevating ties not only in the political sphere but also in the economy and investment sectors, highlighting that Azerbaijan and Cambodia are friendly nations.

Expressing his gratitude for the reception, Ambassador Sok Chean conveyed the greetings of the King of Cambodia, Norodom Sihamoni, and Prime Minister Hun Manet to President Ilham Aliyev. The head of state thanked the ambassador for the greetings and requested that his own regards be conveyed to the King and Prime Minister of Cambodia.

The ambassador emphasized that Cambodia highly values its friendly relations with Azerbaijan. He noted that despite the geographical distance between the two countries, Azerbaijan and Cambodia share similar positions on issues of sustainable development, international peace, and stability.

Highlighting the significant potential for strengthening bilateral cooperation, the ambassador pledged to spare no effort in expanding relations in trade, tourism, culture, and people-to-people contacts. The parties expressed satisfaction with the successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and Cambodia within international organizations. Furthermore, hope was expressed that the upcoming visit of the Prime Minister of Cambodia to Azerbaijan would create favorable opportunities for the further development of bilateral relations.

Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Cambodia were established in 1995. Both nations have consistently sought to deepen cooperation in various international forums, reflecting a shared commitment to multilateral diplomacy and global stability.
