President Ilham Aliyev has shared a message on his social media accounts in observance of World Environment Day.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the President's statement emphasizes the significance of Azerbaijan's current role in global environmental efforts.
"It is a significant event that Azerbaijan is hosting a global event related to World Environment Day for the first time in the region. This is an indicator of the high appreciation for Azerbaijan's active role in raising awareness about environmental protection at the international level and its contribution to collective efforts to protect our planet," the post reads.
World Environment Day, celebrated annually on June 5, is the United Nations' principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of the environment. By hosting this global event, Azerbaijan reinforces its commitment to sustainable development and the transition to green energy, which are key priorities in the country's national agenda, particularly in the restoration and development of the liberated Garabagh and East Zangezur regions.
