President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree approving the "Agreement on Cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia," which was signed in Tbilisi on November 21, 2025.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that under the presidential decree, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan is tasked with ensuring the implementation of the agreement's provisions once it enters into legal force.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has been instructed to notify the Government of Georgia regarding the completion of the necessary domestic procedures required for the agreement to take effect. This bilateral document aims to strengthen regional security, combat transnational crime, and enhance the exchange of information between the law enforcement agencies of the two neighboring South Caucasus nations.

Azerbaijan and Georgia maintain a strategic partnership characterized by high-level political dialogue and extensive economic cooperation. The two countries are key partners in major regional energy and transport projects, including the Southern Gas Corridor and the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway. This latest security agreement reflects the ongoing commitment of both Baku and Tbilisi to deepen institutional ties and ensure stability across the region.
