Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Andrej Plenković has sent a congratulatory letter to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of the country's Independence Day.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the letter reads:
"Dear Mr. President,
On the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan, I extend my congratulations to you and your people on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Croatia and on my own behalf.
The Republic of Croatia attaches great importance to the further strengthening of our bilateral relations in various fields through dialogue, mutual respect, and cooperation. I am confident that the friendship and strategic partnership between Croatia and Azerbaijan will deepen further through our joint efforts for the well-being of our peoples.
The Republic of Croatia is interested in further strengthening our overall cooperation, particularly in the areas of trade and energy security. Our economic relations are of great importance and possess significant development potential, especially by encouraging closer cooperation between Croatian and Azerbaijani companies and increasing mutual investments.
Mr. President, I once again convey my best wishes to you on the occasion of the holiday and ask you to accept the assurances of my highest consideration."
Azerbaijan and Croatia have maintained a constructive diplomatic relationship since the establishment of formal ties in 1995. In recent years, the partnership has increasingly focused on energy security, with Azerbaijan playing a pivotal role in diversifying energy supplies for European nations, including Croatia, through the Southern Gas Corridor.
