Poland and Ukraine are set to collaborate on the creation of a massive "drone armada" to bolster regional security and gain a technological edge over Russia.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced the initiative, highlighting the strategic partnership between Warsaw and Kyiv in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), Operative Information Center-OMM reports.

"I am very pleased to announce that Poland's plan to create a drone armada will be implemented with the technical support and professionalism of our Ukrainian friends," Tusk stated. He further noted that the project would be partially financed through European Union funds, emphasizing Warsaw's objective to surpass Moscow in UAV technology.

The initiative is part of the broader "SAN" program, which includes the establishment of a "drone wall" along Poland's eastern borders with Belarus and Russia. This comprehensive defense system is estimated to cost approximately 15 billion zlotys (about $4.2 billion) and is scheduled for full deployment by the end of 2027. The collaboration leverages Ukraine's extensive battlefield experience with drone warfare, which has become a pivotal element of modern conflict in the region, particularly following the escalation of security challenges in Eastern Europe.
