The incident occurred on the night of April 1-2 at the Nizami Cinema Center located at 20 Bulbul Avenue, Baku. The historic facade was subjected to unauthorized interference by the group, who used paint to scribble various words and expressions across the structure. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has emphasized that such acts against cultural heritage are strictly prohibited and subject to legal consequences.
The Nizami Cinema Center is one of the oldest and most iconic cinemas in Azerbaijan, originally opened in 1940. Named after the legendary poet Nizami Ganjavi, the building is recognized as an architectural landmark and underwent extensive restoration in 2011 to meet international standards while preserving its historical aesthetic. Protecting such monuments is a priority for the state to ensure the preservation of the capital's cultural and historical identity.
