Art and music teachers in Azerbaijan must undergo regular certification every five years to ensure the quality of education, according to official statements made in parliament.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Polad Bulbuloglu, Chairman of the Culture Committee, made these remarks during a public hearing organized by the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) Committee for Science and Education. The hearing, titled "Current status and development prospects of art schools," focused on enhancing the pedagogical standards within the country's specialized educational institutions.
The committee chairman emphasized that because the certification exams yield serious and tangible results, it is essential to conduct this process once every five or seven years. Addressing concerns regarding the evaluation process, he noted: "Teachers who failed the certification came to the parliament to complain. As members of parliament, we receive and listen to citizens. However, when I questioned them as a musician, it became clear that the certification provides accurate results regarding their professional competence."
In Azerbaijan, the modernization of the education system remains a strategic priority, with a particular focus on aligning vocational and arts education with international standards. These certification processes are designed to encourage continuous professional development among educators and to ensure that the next generation of Azerbaijani artists and musicians receives instruction from highly qualified specialists. The Milli Majlis continues to review legislative frameworks to support the sustainability and prestige of the nation's cultural education sector.
