Iranian President Masud Pezeshkian has made a phone call to President Ilham Aliyev.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing the Press Service of the President, that the leaders discussed recent regional developments and bilateral relations.

During the conversation, President Masud Pezeshkian expressed his gratitude to the head of state for visiting the Iranian Embassy in Azerbaijan to offer condolences following the deaths of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and numerous civilians. He also thanked Azerbaijan for its intention to provide humanitarian assistance to Iran during this period.

Addressing the recent security concerns, Masud Pezeshkian stated that the incident involving the firing on Nakhchivan from the air had no connection to Iran. He emphasized that the matter would be thoroughly investigated. President Ilham Aliyev reiterated his condolences regarding the loss of civilian lives in recent events in Iran and stressed the critical importance of a comprehensive investigation into the incident in Nakhchivan.

The two leaders also exchanged views on the development prospects of joint economic projects, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening ties between Baku and Tehran. This dialogue comes at a time when Azerbaijan and Iran are working to enhance regional connectivity, particularly through the development of transport corridors and energy infrastructure. Maintaining stability along the state borders remains a priority for both nations to ensure the successful implementation of these strategic economic initiatives.
