Hungary is prepared to provide diplomatic support for the resolution of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and is willing to host peace negotiations.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that this statement was made by Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar in an interview with the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
According to the Prime Minister, Hungary is positioned to offer both diplomatic and humanitarian assistance to aid in the conflict's resolution. "We can provide diplomatic and humanitarian aid, and Hungary could also serve as a venue for negotiations," Magyar emphasized.
Addressing the issue of security guarantees for Kyiv, the Prime Minister noted that such assurances can only be provided by the international community. "Hungary cannot play a decisive role here. This is a matter within the competence of major powers," he stated.
It should be noted that Peter Magyar met with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Berlin on June 2. Furthermore, he has expressed his readiness to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy next week to discuss potential diplomatic pathways.
Hungary, a member of both the European Union and NATO, has frequently positioned itself as a bridge between conflicting parties in the region, leveraging its geographic location and diplomatic channels to advocate for dialogue, despite the complex geopolitical dynamics surrounding the ongoing war in Ukraine.
