Territorial issues remain a fundamental priority for Russia within the framework of the "Anchorage formula" aimed at resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Peskov emphasized the consistency of Moscow's position regarding the ongoing negotiations. "It is no secret, and this is our consistent position. The territorial issue, which is part of the 'Anchorage formula,' is of fundamental importance for the Russian side. The President receives direct reports from our negotiators, and we will see how the situation develops," he noted.
The Kremlin spokesperson further cautioned against expecting immediate breakthroughs from the initial stages of the diplomatic process. "This is a very complex matter, and there are difficult issues on the agenda. However, the fact that these contacts have started in a constructive manner should be viewed positively. Nevertheless, serious work remains to be done," Peskov added.
The "Anchorage formula" refers to the emerging framework for potential peace negotiations involving global powers and the conflicting parties. These discussions have gained significant international attention following the inauguration of US President Donald Trump in January 2025, whose administration has signaled a proactive approach toward brokering a settlement. The diplomatic efforts in Anchorage represent a critical attempt to establish a ceasefire and address long-standing territorial disputes that have defined the conflict since its escalation.
