"Russia remains open to negotiations regarding the resolution of the Ukraine crisis," stated Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Peskov emphasized that while Moscow is prepared for a peaceful settlement, the current environment hinders progress. He alleged that the Kyiv leadership is being pressured by European nations to continue the conflict, which serves as the primary justification for Russia's ongoing "special military operation."
Peskov noted that there is currently no new momentum or significant progress toward a diplomatic resolution of the Ukraine crisis. Despite this, he highlighted that Russia maintains communication channels with the United States. "We continue our dialogue with the US through existing channels. We hope that American representatives will find the time to visit Moscow so that negotiations can continue," Peskov stated.
Addressing broader geopolitical concerns, the Kremlin spokesperson commented on the nuclear cooperation agreement between the US and Saudi Arabia. He affirmed that Iran, Saudi Arabia, and other nations possess the right to utilize nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. Furthermore, Peskov categorically rejected claims suggesting that Russia has provided technical support or intelligence to Iran regarding potential attacks on US military bases in the Middle East. "There is absolutely no basis to comment on such allegations," he asserted.
The ongoing conflict in Ukraine, which began in February 2022, remains a central point of contention in international relations, with various global powers attempting to mediate or influence the trajectory of the war. Russia's stance on negotiations has frequently been met with skepticism by Western nations, who argue that Moscow's conditions for peace are incompatible with Ukraine's sovereignty.
