The participation of women in vocational education in Azerbaijan has risen to 40 percent, marking a significant increase from 32 percent in 2022. This upward trend reflects broader efforts to diversify the workforce and enhance technical skills among the female population.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Ilgar Bayramli, Director of the State Agency for Vocational Education, announced these figures during a briefing focused on student admissions and the introduction of new vocational specialties.
Bayramli highlighted that approximately 500 teachers are scheduled to undergo professional development and international training programs this year to support these educational advancements. He emphasized the strategic importance of aligning vocational training with national development goals, particularly in the liberated territories.
"Within the framework of the First State Program on the 'Great Return' to the liberated territories, training is planned for 532 individuals across 21 specialties," Bayramli stated. The Director also noted that the agency plans to admit 2,560 students into 57 specialties under the dual vocational education model, a program implemented in collaboration with over 150 employers to ensure graduates meet current market demands.
Vocational education in Azerbaijan has become a key pillar of the government's strategy to modernize the economy. By integrating dual education models—which combine classroom learning with on-the-job training—the country aims to reduce unemployment and fill critical gaps in technical and industrial sectors, ensuring a skilled workforce for the ongoing reconstruction and development projects across the nation.
