Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has announced that the country's new Constitution will not include any references to the Declaration of Independence. Operative Information Center-OMM, citing local media, reports that the Prime Minister expressed confidence that a final peace treaty with Azerbaijan will definitely be signed.
During a briefing with reporters, the head of government emphasized the importance of aligning the country's fundamental laws with the current regional realities. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Pashinyan noted that the removal of references to the Declaration of Independence is a strategic step toward ensuring long-term stability and finalizing the peace process with Baku.
The peace negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia have intensified in recent months, focusing on the mutual recognition of territorial integrity and the delimitation of state borders. Azerbaijan has consistently maintained that the removal of territorial claims against the Republic of Azerbaijan from the Armenian Constitution is a primary prerequisite for the signing of a sustainable and legally binding peace agreement. This process follows the restoration of Azerbaijan's full sovereignty over Garabagh and is seen as a vital step toward regional economic integration and security.
