Democracy consistently fosters regional cooperation and serves as a vital instrument for peace.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made these remarks while speaking to journalists following the voting process today.
Responding to questions regarding the impact of the elections on the region, Pashinyan stated: "I am confident in our peaceful regional future, as we have peace with Azerbaijan and deep relations with Georgia. I expect that we will establish diplomatic relations with Turkey. I am certain that in the near future, railway and road connections with Turkey will be opened. The TRIPP project is a game-changer that will benefit all countries in our region. It is advantageous for Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Georgia, and Iran."
Pashinyan further addressed his country's foreign policy, asserting that he sees no genuine tension in relations with Russia, characterizing any perceived friction as artificial. "Relations with Russia possess institutional depth and are based on mutual respect. Certain forces operating in Armenia are attempting to create tension in these relations. This is not arising simply because we have very close relations with the Russian president," he emphasized.
The TRIPP (Transport and Regional Integration Partnership Project) initiative is frequently discussed in the context of the broader Zangezur Corridor and regional connectivity efforts, which aim to link the South Caucasus with wider international trade routes. These projects are viewed as essential for the economic integration of the region, potentially transforming the South Caucasus into a major transit hub connecting East and West.
It should be noted that today, Armenia is holding parliamentary elections featuring 18 political forces, including two blocs and 16 parties. There are 2,485,851 citizens eligible to vote in the country.
