Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has announced that the ruling "Civil Contract" party will secure a majority in parliament and form the new government, based on the results of the recent parliamentary elections.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Pashinyan made these remarks while addressing parliament during discussions regarding the 2025 state budget.
Pashinyan characterized the June 7 vote as a decisive step by the Armenian people toward safeguarding statehood, independence, and peace. The Prime Minister further described the election results as a defeat for political forces he labeled as the "war party," adding that these developments would be subject to more detailed discussion in the coming months.
The parliamentary elections in Armenia are a critical mechanism for determining the country's political trajectory, particularly regarding its foreign policy and regional security commitments. The "Civil Contract" party's victory reaffirms its mandate to continue its current governance agenda.
According to preliminary data from the Central Election Commission, the voting results among the 16 parties and two blocs that participated in the elections are as follows:
- "Civil Contract" party: 49.81% (727,160 votes)
- "Strong Armenia" bloc: 23.29% (340,062 votes)
- "Armenia" bloc: 9.94% (145,097 votes)
- "Prosperous Armenia" party: 4% (58,368 votes)
A total of 1,476,916 voters cast their ballots in the election.
