Azerbaijani law enforcement officers seized more than 40 kilograms of various narcotic substances during nationwide operations conducted over the past 24 hours. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) confirmed the successful interdiction as part of ongoing efforts to combat illicit drug trafficking in the country.
The Operative Information Center-OMM was informed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs that during the operational measures carried out by police officers on March 21, a total weight of 40.9 kilograms of narcotic substances and 500 methadone pills were discovered and confiscated. The ministry emphasized that resolute measures in this direction are being continued to ensure public safety and dismantle drug distribution networks.
Drug trafficking remains a significant challenge for regional security, and Azerbaijan continues to strengthen its border controls and domestic policing to mitigate the flow of illegal substances. The Ministry of Internal Affairs regularly conducts such large-scale operations across Baku and other regions to prevent the sale and distribution of narcotics, which often transit through the region via international smuggling routes.
