Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov has held a meeting with Denis Afanasyev, Vice-Governor and Chairman of the Government of the Astrakhan region of Russia.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Cabinet of Ministers reported that the discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations.
During the meeting, the high level of cooperation between Azerbaijan and various regions of Russia, particularly the Astrakhan region, was noted with satisfaction. Both sides emphasized the positive dynamics in the development of economic, trade, and investment ties. Furthermore, the expansion of collaboration in transport, logistics, cultural, humanitarian, and educational sectors was highly commended.
A significant point of discussion was the Astrakhan region's ongoing project to construct a preschool educational institution in the Qubadli district of Azerbaijan, which was liberated from occupation. The parties also exchanged views on further strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The Astrakhan region serves as a key partner for Azerbaijan within the framework of the North-South International Transport Corridor. This strategic route connects South Asia to Northern Europe, with the Astrakhan region acting as a vital logistics hub for trade and transit between the two nations.
