The "Azerbaijan Derby" is set to take place twice within four days as Neftchi and Garabagh face off in the Misli Premier League. Operative Information Center-OMM reports that both high-stakes matches will be hosted at the Palms Sports Arena on April 26 and April 30.

Ahead of the encounters, both clubs issued a joint statement to ensure a positive atmosphere during the games. "On April 26 and 30, the attention of the Azerbaijani football community will be focused on the Palms Sports Arena. We call on our fans to be restrained, show respect to the opposing team, its supporters, and the match participants, and to support their favorite teams within the framework of high culture and fair play principles," the statement read. The clubs emphasized that while the rivalry has lasted approximately 35 years, the focus should remain on the spirit of the game and professional ethics, noting that "what happens on the field should stay on the field."

The rivalry between Neftchi and Garabagh is considered the most significant in Azerbaijani football, often referred to as the country's premier derby. Neftchi, based in Baku, and Garabagh, which represents the liberated territories and currently plays its home matches in the capital, are the two most decorated clubs in the history of the Republic of Azerbaijan. These upcoming matches are expected to draw capacity crowds, reflecting the growing interest and competitive nature of the Misli Premier League as both teams vie for dominance in the national standings.
