A total of 57 kilograms of illicit narcotics and 1,981 psychotropic pills have been removed from circulation in Azerbaijan, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reported that the seizure followed successful operations conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Absheron and Garadagh districts. During these operations, authorities apprehended Ramil Aliyev and Nihat Abdurrahmanov, both of whom have prior convictions for theft.

Law enforcement officers discovered a significant cache of illegal substances, including heroin, methamphetamine, opium, hashish resin, marijuana laced with harmful additives, and 1,981 methadone pills. Investigations revealed that the suspects were allegedly organizing the illegal distribution of narcotics smuggled into the country under the direction of foreign drug traffickers.

A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident, and the court has ordered the suspects to be held in pre-trial detention. The Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to conduct rigorous anti-drug operations across Azerbaijan as part of a broader national strategy to combat organized crime and protect public health from the dangers of illicit substance trafficking.
