Air defense systems in Russia's Belgorod region intercepted and destroyed several Ukrainian missiles, including U.S.-made HIMARS, officials reported.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov shared the information on his Telegram channel. According to the governor, the air defense systems were activated over Belgorod and the surrounding district to neutralize the incoming projectiles. Gladkov stated that, based on preliminary data, no injuries were reported, though the specific consequences of the attack are still being clarified.
At least five HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System) missiles were reportedly shot down during the engagement. The Belgorod region, which shares a border with Ukraine, has seen a significant increase in cross-border incidents involving shelling and drone strikes. These border areas have become frequent sites of aerial activity as the conflict continues to impact regions adjacent to the combat zones.
