Traffic congestion reported on major roads in Baku

Significant traffic congestion has been reported across several major roads in Baku, according to the Intellectual Transport Management Center (ITMC).

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the ITMC has issued an advisory regarding the current traffic flow in the capital.

As of the latest update, traffic density is being observed in the following locations:

  • Baku-Sumgait highway, towards the "20 Yanvar" metro station;
  • Ziya Bunyadov Avenue, from the intersection with Muzaffar Narimanov Street towards the "20 Yanvar" metro station;
  • 1st Lake Side Road, towards Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
  • Binagadi highway, towards the "Azadlig Prospekti" metro station;
  • Tbilisi Avenue, from the "20 Yanvar" metro station towards the city center;
  • 8 Noyabr Avenue, from the intersection with Suleyman Ahmadov Street towards the city center;
  • Heydar Aliyev Avenue, auxiliary road, towards the city center;
  • Abdulvahab Salamzada Street, towards Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
  • Yusif Safarov Street, towards the city center.

Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, has experienced rapid urbanization and an increase in vehicle ownership over the past decade, leading to periodic traffic challenges during peak hours. The Intellectual Transport Management Center, which operates under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, utilizes advanced monitoring systems and traffic light management to optimize flow and mitigate congestion across the city's expanding road network.
