The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Azerbaijan has issued a formal warning to citizens regarding fraudulent advertisements on social networks offering employment and education opportunities abroad. According to the Ministry, individuals who fall for these deceptive offers risk having their identification documents seized upon arrival in foreign countries, leading to forced labor, sexual exploitation, and becoming victims of human trafficking.

According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the MIA stated that behind seemingly attractive offers of "high salaries, favorable conditions, and rapid documentation processes" often lie criminal schemes. To prevent such incidents, the Ministry recommends that citizens contact the "152" Hotline of the Main Department for Combating Human Trafficking for confidential and free consultations before accepting any foreign offers.

The Ministry further advised citizens to verify the authenticity of advertisements by contacting the accredited diplomatic missions or Consulates of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the destination country. Individuals are urged to demand official licenses and special permits from companies or persons offering these services, and to thoroughly review employment contracts before signing. Furthermore, the MIA emphasized that citizens should never hand over their passports or identification documents to third parties and should immediately contact local police or Azerbaijani diplomatic representatives if they encounter any illegal activities abroad.

Human trafficking remains a global challenge, and Azerbaijan continues to strengthen its legal framework and international cooperation to combat this organized crime. The Main Department for Combating Human Trafficking under the MIA regularly conducts awareness campaigns to protect vulnerable groups from exploitation. By providing centralized resources like the "152" Hotline, Azerbaijan aims to ensure the safety of its citizens traveling abroad for legitimate economic and educational purposes.
